Against
Rome treats you with many different game types which are described
in brief below.
Learn scenarios
A total of 4 learn scenarios, which build on one another progressively,
teach you the most important rules of game play and the controls
in Against Rome.
The campaign
The Against Rome campaign which consists of 25 scenarios is based
on the exciting story of selected Barbarian tribes at the time
of the migration of nations. Within the framework of the story
you can decide at certain points, which nation you would like
to play next so that you can create YOUR OWN personal version
of the dramatic events surrounding the fall of Rome.
You can thereby return to a campaign scenario, which has already
been played at any time in order to play it through again. You
can also decide to choose the other of the two nations available
for selection at one of the points mentioned above in order to
find out its fate.
Historical scenarios
We have selected a total of 5 well-known historical scenarios from
the time of migration of nations for you where you have the free
choice of which of the two sides involved in the battle you would
like to play. You thus can experience leading the legionaries
of the mighty Roman Empire.
The endless game
You take on the role of a Barbarian chieftain in the endless game,
who wants to establish a new homeland for his tribe after a long
and dangerous journey. It's your job to found a settlement and
extend it, whereby you will have to repeatedly defend yourself
against other Barbarian tribes.
5 different landscape types are available in the endless game – and
you can of course select your tribe together with its tribal symbol
yourself.
Multi-player scenarios
You can play the multi-player scenarios with up to 8 players via
IP-direct connection and GameSpy Arcade on the Internet as well
as in a network/LAN.
A total of 3 scenario types are available in the multi-player mode:

tribe as quickly as possible whereby each player must compete against the others. |
 |
Scenario type 2: Death Match
In this game variation each player already has a completely built settlement
and a wide range of battle units. The aim of this game is victory over all
other players.

 |
Scenario type 3: Historical
The same battles as the scenarios available in the single player modus can be
replayed here – for between 2 to 8 players. |
